2022年03月19日Shin-Yokohama: The Main Office Area

What is “Novitas World”?

We wanted more people around the world to read our blog, so we translated it into English for you, guys! Also, we would like Novitas to become more international and hire specialists from all over the world. We hope you will enjoy it. 🙂

Hey guys! This is Saki Okubo, a student-intern at Novitas.

Today I just want to tell you about the attractiveness of Shin-Yokohama, where our main office is located. I wrote this article for you as a one-day Shin-Yokohama PR ambassador 😊 so you will get to know this area better and I hope you will like Novitas even more. 😊

Let’s go!

~What I ♡ about Shin-Yokohama

❶ The godlike convenience of public transportation!

You can find not only trains of JR (Japan Railways) Yokohama line and one of the Yokohama Underground lines called Blue line but also Tokaido Shinkansen tracks (Shinkansen is a Japanese high-speed bullet train). My university was in Tokyo but thanks to Shinkansen it was really easy to get to Shin-Yokohama.

Greenery!

Shin-Yokohama is known as an area with numerous office buildings but it still doesn’t look like concrete jungles as it’s richly decorated with flowers and road-side trees. I always liked going to Novitas at Shin-Yokohama when the weather was fine. You can easily get refreshed by just walking down the streets during your lunch time. Besides, there is large Shin-Yokohama Park in a 15-minute walk from the JR Shin-Yokohama Station. There is also a large Nissan Stadium in this park where the soccer Olympic Games were held.

Shopping!

Restaurants and side-dish stores, BicCamera (electronic goods), Uniqlo (clothing) and other stores are gathered in one Shin-Yokohama Station building so it’s quite convenient to go in for shopping. Besides, there is a free bus going to IKEA Tohoku from the station, so it was a great opportunity for people going shopping after work when the stores working hours were shortened due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Rain and Sun protection!

There is a quite long bridge way with a plain roof starting from the station building, which protects you from strong rain and exhausting sunlight when you go to work. By the way, this bridge takes your half-way to Novitas from the Shin-Yokohama station.

Lunch battlefield!

Shin-Yokohama becomes very lively in a lunch time. Japanese, Chinese, European and other restaurants of various kinds offer you indoor eating as well as takeout and bento (Japanese traditional single-portion lunch box). I will also post a lunch map shortly with the best lunch spots selected by Novitas members, so please feel free to take a look. 😊

~So, here they are! 5 things I liked about Shin-Yokohama, location of Novitas’ main office~

And at the end, here is one more fact about Shin-Yokohama. In the past the neighboring Tsurumi River was often flooded so Shin-Yokohama was a vast wetland unsuitable for crops cultivation, area with no any good points. But it was selected for development as a sub center of Yokohama city and after large-scale works it turned into a Shin-Yokohama we can see now.

I felt like I made a tour over Shin-Yokohama one more time with you while I was describing these good points. Please feel free to come to Shin-Yokohama and see its attractiveness with your own eyes!

Thank you so much for reading this article till the very end!

Take care!
